 NOT for Competitive Swimming--Bummer Feb 11, 2012

These suits are NOT tailored for competitive swimming. I ordered 2 of these suits expressly for my boys to wear during swim team practice.
A quick breakdown of my 2-star rating:
FIT: 1 Star (Not for competitive swimming, which is why I ordered them)
FABRIC: 2 Star (Average to good, compared to other jammers)
FASHION: 5 Star (I wish competitive swimwear designers made cool designs like these!)
SHIPPING SPEED: 1 Star (Standard shipping, snail mail, took 7 full business days, 9 days from order to delivery)
FIT:
IT IS THE CUT/TAILORING, NOT INCORRECT SIZING THAT MAKE THESE JAMMERS UNFIT FOR COMPETITIVE SWIMMING. Competitive swimwear is cut to fit snugly throughout, so that they don't fall off when the boys dive off the blocks, or slip down against the constant pull of swimming. These jammers are not cut properly (too big) near the top of the knee and rely solely on drawstring (not proper fit) to hold them up around the waist. I thought that maybe the trunks just ran big, so I had my 9 year-old (average size) son try on the smaller pair of (size 6-8) that I had ordered for my average-sized 7-year-old son. Still too big around the waist and lower thigh.
FABRIC:
Average to good, compared to competitive swim jammers
FASHION:
AWESOME!! I wish some of the competitive swimwear companies would stop taking life so seriously and design some fun patterns for younger boys like these! My sons were bummed we had to send them back and sacrifice fashion for fit.
SHIPPING SPEED:
Snail mail. Much slower than I have experienced with other non-Prime Amazon.com independent sellers. I paid for standard shipping, and it took 7 full business days (9 total days) from the time I ordered them to the time they were delivered to my mailbox. Boo.

Look good and I think the streamline helps swimming. Only had these a couple of months tho and they are very faded and thread bare. They have only been used in the pool so if you are thinking these will be ok at the beach then think again.

My boys love their new jammers for swim practice. I took another users advice and ordered small. My boys are of average build and slender, but not too skinny. I ordered the 6 year old size for my 8 1/2 year old and the 4 year old size for my 6 year old they fit perfectly. Both boys said that they are really comfortable.
